Guetting Betting System
Charles Guetting is a well-known name in roulette gambling circles, but to the uninitiated the name will probably not mean much to you. Charles Guetting was a French mathematician who claimed to have become extremely successful playing roulette thanks to his progressive betting system. Guetting employed his betting system in Monte Carlo, playing the card game Trente et Quarante, which pays even money on all outcomes. Because Guetting’s betting system was used on even money wagers, it has been adapted to be used when playing roulette, specifically red/black and odd/even.
The Guetting betting system is one of the more complicated betting systems that you can use playing roulette, as it involved some prep work, and also requires the player to keep track of their system while playing. It has been suggested that it is easier to use when playing roulette online because you are in control of the spin, so you can take your time and make the necessary calculations before you play the next spin. When playing live, you have until the croupier announces ‘no more bets’ to make your next wager, which can put a player under pressure, leading to mistakes in the system. That being said, there is no reason not to use it when playing live, as long as you are confident in your ability to work out your next bet in good time.
The Guetting betting system is a progressive betting system which involves 4 ‘levels’ and each level, with the exception of Level 1, has 3 ‘steps’.
Level 1: 1 unit.
Level 2: 1.5 units, 2 units, 2.5 units.
Level 3: 3 units, 4 units, 5 units.
Level 4: 6 units, 8 units, 10 units.
To move to the next level, you must complete each step on the level. To complete each step, you need to have two winning wagers in a row. Once you have completed the final step in a level, you move up to the next level. If you have a losing bet, you immediately drop down a level, not a step. So, for example, if you were on the third step of level 3 and your 5 unit bet loses, you immediately move down to a 1.5 unit bet, as it is the first step of Level 2. It is best to keep track of this on a notepad, which is why it is suggested you play online, at least at first, when using the Guetting betting system. Should you be fortunate enough to reach the end of Level 4, you take your profits and run, or you start from Level 1 again.
Before you venture to the roulette table to use the Guetting system, you need to establish two things – how much one unit is worth and what you are going to bet on. To establish the value of one unit, you take your bankroll for the session and divide it by 100. So, if you have $100 to play with, each unit is worth $1. A $500 bankroll would give a value of $5 to each unit. Splitting your bankroll into 100 units gives you enough to play with should you hit a losing streak, ensuring a session of sufficient length that any variation is cancelled out as effectively as possible. It is no fun losing your entire bankroll in the space of 10 spins, which is why sensible bankroll management is the key to having fun at the tables.
With those factors decided, you can head to the roulette table and place a 50-50 wager, which would be red/black or odd/even. It does not matter which bet you choose, and you do not need to stick with it, as that could become exceedingly boring!
The Guetting betting system is a complicated way of playing roulette, but it can be worth taking the time to learn it, as you are less likely to lose a lot of money in a short period due to the fact your initial investment is only ever 1 unit, and everything else you are playing with is profit. However, like all betting systems, it is not a guarantee of a success at the roulette table, and care must be taken not to deviate from the rules set out. That being said, it is definitely one of the most involving and fun betting systems to use when playing roulette, so it you have the patience for it, give it a try the next time you want to have a session at the roulette table.
